Born in Satu Mare, Romania, Ludwig and his family immigrated to the United States in 1978. From an early age, Ludwig showed an aptitude for art and frequently referred to images and artwork as a universal language. In the Fall of 1992, he entered Rutgers University and graduated with a degree in Political Science and double minors in English and Philosophy. Creating art had always been an integral part of his life, however, it was not until the summer of 1998 that he began to consider it as a career. He enrolled in the DuCret School of Art, where he studied for two and a half years and continued his education through the Art Students League in New York.
Since 1998, Ludwig has been exhibiting his work in a wide range of venues. Early on, his work was regularly on display at the Bowery Poetry Club in New York as a part of Infusion I-V (a symposium of art and world beats) and he took part in a series of shows at Kush in New York that merged live performance painting with a rotating cast of DJ's. His art has been part of two independent films, Smokers and American Standard, produced by Fifth Column Films. Ludwig has also exhibited at the Swain Gallery in New Jersey, the Caputo Gallery in Brooklyn, New York, The Emerging Arts Media Mix in Chelsea, New York, in a three person show at the A-Forest Gallery in Chelsea, New York and in Christie's "Insiders Art Exhibition".
In the past 5 years, Ludwig has displayed his artwork in Washington, D.C., Chicago, IL, as well as throughout the tri-state area. Local exhibitions include group shows at LITM Gallery, Mana Fine Arts Gallery, Jajo Gallery, and solo exhibitions at the White Star, Iron Monkey, and Sapphire Lounge in New York. He has illustrated for articles and short stories, and continues to work on his conceptual series' while taking on realist and illustration items on case by case basis.
